What is a Hike?

More than just wearing North Face or Patagonia

Ever wonder what makes a hike different than just taking a stroll? Is it the terrain, the scenery, the equipment you bring, or the clothes you wear?

Hiking is about more than just wearing North Face, or Patagonia, or [ insert too-cool-for-me brand name here ].

Hiking is simply making a plan, preparing for a journey, and then putting one foot in front of the other until the journey is complete.

As an activity, hiking is full of eagerness, effort, and accomplishment. Hiking requires bravery and leads to adventure. Hiking supports health, blazes trails, makes memories, and forges character.

Do you know what it takes to be a hiker? All you have to do is start hiking!

If you are hiking a flat, half-mile trail around a pond, you are a hiker. If you are climbing Mount Everest, you are a hiker. And when your hike is finished, aren’t you always glad you did it?
