Marketing On Target
You're probably missing, and it's costing you money
Don’t miss.
“Targeting” is when you choose exactly who your audience should be.
But it can be sneaky… “overspending” might be disguised as “targeting”.
This is because you could be targeting too widely (and overspending), or targeting too narrowly (and overpaying).
If you are targeting too broadly, then you are most certainly wasting ad impressions.
If you are targeting too tightly, then you might be overpaying when you look at your “cost per lead”. With digital marketing especially, it costs more to target narrowly. Niche audiences always cost more than broad audiences.
Be sure to spend the right amount on advertising.
You could be spending too much or too little, and there’s not really an exact amount you should be paying. It’s going to be different for every business.
Budgeting five to ten percent of your total expenses is common, but if you have a strong reputation that creates lots of referrals, you may not need to advertise as much. On the flip side, if you’re brand new, you will need to advertise more.
Are you spending the right amount?
