Calling All To Action
This is the most overlooked piece of small business marketing
Just ask.
Do people know what you are asking them to do? In marketing this is your “Call To Action” – if we’re getting nerdy (and you know we are), your “CTA”.
Your CTA is probably the most overlooked (or overworked) piece of any average small business marketing campaign.
When it’s overlooked, it is not clear and prominent enough.
When it’s overworked, you’re asking people to do too many things at once.
A CTA should be clear and easy.
For example, if you advertise on the radio, then directing listeners to a memorable web address is easier to remember than a phone number.
Or if you have an ad in a printed publication, that’s not the right place to also tell people you’re on Instagram.
Your marketing should only invite the viewer to do one simple next step.
The best CTA I ever saw was on a billboard. In fact, it was the headline, ad copy, and 2 CTAs all wrapped up into one. This is all the billboard said: “800NEWPOOL.COM”.
Brilliant.
Simple.
Memorable.
Effective.
Clear.
There’s a lot to love about that ad. In under 2 seconds I had the offering, value proposition, phone number, and website all implanted in my mind. You can’t ask for more than that out of a billboard, except maybe the Chick-Fil-A logo with an arrow that says “Exit Now”.
Is your Call To Action very clear and simple?
